Join us at Savonlinna Development Services Ltd. (Savonlinnan Hankekehitys Oy) as a Project Manager for the international REWARD Interreg Europe project. The project brings together nine partners from Finland, Ireland, Croatia, Portugal, Italy, Slovakia, Poland and Czech Republic to address the challenges of attracting and retaining knowledge workers in remote areas. Savonlinna Development Services is the lead partner of the project.

In modern economies, knowledge, information, and skills are crucial for driving investment, fostering new businesses, and fueling economic growth. Jobs across various industries are increasingly demanding higher levels of expertise, but remote regions face the challenge how to attract and retain skilled workforce. To tackle these challenges the project will identify and transfer best practices among regional policy actors in four key areas:

  • university-industry collaboration
  • entrepreneurship and business support
  • quality of life and regional attractiveness
  • adaptation to new forms of work (digital nomads, remote work, second homeowners)

As the project manager of REWARD, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading coordination, implementation, and evaluation of project activities in alignment with Interreg Europe guidelines and project objectives.
  • Coordinating with project partners, stakeholders, and relevant authorities to foster effective collaboration and communication.
  • Monitoring project progress, managing timelines and budgets, and providing regular reports to funding authorities.
  • Facilitating knowledge exchange, capacity building, and networking opportunities among project partners and stakeholders with the support of our advisory partner.
  • Identifying synergies with other regional development initiatives and ensuring alignment with broader strategic objectives.

What we expect from you:

  • Proven experience in project management, preferably withing EU-funded projects or regional development initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to thrive in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency in English and Finnish.
  • Familiarity with innovation policies and RDI activities in the context of regional development is desirable.

The job is full-time with an anticipated duration of approximately 3 years. The position is available for immediate appointment. You will be supported by a thematic expert and friendly colleagues in Savonlinna, Finland.
